2026 Plans
Happy New Year! Starting the year with a game jam: https://itch.io/jam/australia-jam I'll start with a few models, textures etc.. stuff I can use for future projects. Started some cricket models in Blender. As for games; a new clicker, a visual novel or two, a Frogger clone are sitting in my Godot folder atm, approaching a prototype stage on a couple of them. Have to finish Get Pagey 2 and Emily:S1E1 this year. A music video for Deadlock's Unholy Soldier is still a dream but

A Very Scary Christmas Song Jam
I entered another jam, this one I had to make a tune. I forgot how hard composing is. I managed to get it done though, it was a slog. Here's how I did it; Started trying to find a key to work with, already not easy as Christmas is joyous and celebratory while scary is ominous and dread inducing. I settled on Eb major, turns out you can do both with that key. First up Musescore. I spent a long time in this program, as this is the 'base' where the melody, bass and whatever come

Time to submit?
I've arrived at the point where I have completed what I set out to do, the entries are starting to roll in and the time is running out. Once I've submitted this I will have the confidence to jump into another jam, I'm already looking. It's been a fun journey, I need to wrap it up and move on to the next one. I've done a gameplay video (of me being really bad at my own game), some screenshots and I've got the itch.io page in draft, everything ready to go. Here are the last sc

The Juice The Polish
I have 9 or 10 days left, the core game loop is done, the ui is done, the menus are done, the base video is done, the audio is done, the end screen is done...... Now I'm playing with audio levels and making it more pretty, I do believe I'm into the 'polish' stage! As this is my first game jam I've been watching the submissions, or lack of them so far. There are only 5 at this stage, I am hoping there are more to come before I submit mine. I have now also entered a music jam /

Ups and Downs
Just when I thought I was going on cruise control in Godot, all the code was coming into place.... and then I broke it. My input detection for my area2d's disappeared, couldn't get it working again no matter what I did. It wasn't canvas items, layers, top layer, z index..... nothing... I decided to re-write the whole thing, same problem. I was stumped. I decided to head out to the garden, pick some lettuce and some peas. Planted some corn, watered everything and came back ins

Hurdles and Things Starting to Pop Up
So I have started to come across my first issues, and the want to change stuff. I made my animation in Blender, exported it out and was ready to get into Godot.... or so I thought. What I didn't realise was that Godot only deals with ogg vorbis for video, so my mp4 was no good. I tried to 'convert' to ogg by dropping the mp4 into Blender and exporting it from the video editor but that took out some of the resolution. So back into Blender, worked out how to add audio in the se
